Verification Completed for MediaTek’s Latest Flagship Mobile AP ‘Dimensity’.
Samsung Electronics and Taiwanese semiconductor design company MediaTek has completed the operational verification of the industry’s fastest 10.7Gbps (gigabits per second) LPDDR5X DRAM. Through this, the company aims to solidify its technological leadership in the low-power, high-performance DRAM market and take the lead in commercializing high-performance mobile DRAM.
Samsung Electronics announced on the 16th that it has completed verification of the 16GB (gigabyte) package product based on LPDDR5X for MediaTek’s latest flagship mobile application processor (AP), ‘Dimensity 9400’, scheduled to be released in the second half of this year.
The 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X developed by Samsung Electronics last April has improved operating speed and power consumption by more than 25% compared to the previous generation. It is the optimal product for the on-device AI era that requires low power and high-performance characteristics.
This product will allow users to get longer battery life from their mobile devices and take advantage of powerful on-device AI capabilities without being connected to a server or cloud.
“In the future, users will be able to maximize battery performance and utilize more AI capabilities on devices equipped with the latest chipsets,” said JC Su, MediaTek Senior Vice President.
Bae Yong-cheol, Vice President of Product Planning at Samsung Electronics’ Memory Business Division, said, “We will lead the AI smartphone market by providing solutions suited to the future on-device AI era through organic cooperation with customers.”
Samsung Electronics plans to actively expand LPDDR DRAM applications in the future, including not only mobile but also AI accelerators, servers, high-performance computing (HPC), and automotive.
