- Second event after Silicon Valley, USA
- Expected to reveal results of cooperation with Korean fabless companies, design houses, etc.

Samsung Electronics DS (Device Solutions/Semiconductor) Division will hold the ‘Samsung Foundry Forum (SFF) 2024’ and ‘SAFE (Samsung Advanced Foundry Ecosystem) Forum 2024’ at COEX, Gangnam-gu, Seoul on July 9. At the event, Samsung Electronics is expected to emphasize specific plans related to advanced processes below 2nm (nanometers) and partnerships with domestic fabless and design houses that will be announced at the U.S. event in June.
According to the semiconductor industry on the 4th, Samsung Electronics confirmed this event plan and notified its partner companies. SFF is an event held annually by Samsung Electronics since 2019 to promote its foundry (consignment production) technology. Customer companies and partners such as semiconductor design houses are working together. This year, it is scheduled to be held one after another in major regions around the world, starting with Silicon Valley (San Jose) in the United States, and then in Seoul, Tokyo, and Munich. Seoul is the second location to hold the event, following San Jose, USA in June.
Samsung Electronics said, “This event will be a venue to discuss topics such as IP solutions and ecosystem partnerships in addition to introducing Samsung Electronics’ foundry technology,” adding, “Samsung Electronics and industry experts plan to provide insight into the future of foundry.” He said.
Unlike the US event, where keynote speakers such as ARM, Groke, Siemens, and AMD have been confirmed, the speakers for the Korean event have not yet been decided. The industry expects that key executives of the foundry division and major Samsung Foundry partners who were unable to participate in the U.S. event will serve as speakers, led by Choi Si-young, head of Samsung Electronics’ foundry division (president).
